March Preparation

This is from the compost pile that we started from last summer. 

We tilled the garden and added the compost.

We added a couple hundred lettuce seeds to the bed.
We bought seed tape.  It was sure easy to plant.

Day 2 seed starting.

Today I had more help. 

Here is the start. I'll give a list of the seeds at a later date.

I'm a little nervous but I think it is save to use the greenhouse. It feels like 15 degrees warmer inside.
I added plastic wrap around the containers to make mini greenhouses.  Will it work? I don't know it is just an experiment.

There is the greenhouse next to the shed (AKA my parents retirement home).

2012 Season Has Begun!

Technically I have been thinking about seeds for the past 3 weeks. Everything came in the mail this afternoon so I started preparing everything for some actual seed starting tomorrow.

These are all the things I need. Including the helper.

I am going to use egg shells to start some seeds.

This Eco Seed Starting brick made with coconut.
Add water and it expands to 8 Qt of dirt.

Look what we found from last fall!

I started these carrots too late in the season last year.  They lasted through the winter , pretty cool.
